Maruti Suzuki Ignis discontinued, here is what’s next
Launched in 2017, the small yet competent Ignis never found many buyers in India due to its radical styling. However, it was the most affordable Suzuki car with a K12B engine, which has its rally pedigree and strong performance proven globally.
After nearly a decade, Maruti has pulled the plug on the Ignis. Online reports by customers hint that the dealerships have stopped accepting new bookings of the Ignis. Moreover, the leftover stock is being cleared with discounts at various dealerships.
The last recorded price of the Ignis was Rs 5.35-7.55 lakh (ex-showroom), and a new micro-SUV, which is believed to be based on the underpinnings of the current-gen Swift, is in the making to replace it in the near future.
The Ignis was offered with a peppy 1.2-litre four-cylinder K12B engine that offered 83 bhp and 113 Nm. It was offered with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT transmission options.
While Maruti is yet to officially announce the discontinuation, the production of the Ignis is believed to have stopped. However, the micro-SUV is still listed on the official NEXA dealership.
