Nissan Patrol coming to India via the CBU route
In a recent media interaction, the Chief Performance Officer of Nissan, Guillaume Carter, confirmed that the brand is seriously evaluating the Patrol SUV for the Indian market. He revealed that the Patrol is most likely to be launched as a CBU model, which will be possible due to the Indian government’s homologation-free import rule of up to 2,500 passenger vehicles.
He also revealed that Nissan is considering launching its other iconic models as well. However, Patrol, being the flagship SUV, tops the chart of the next launches in India.
Another big revelation is the fact that Nissan has accepted that it priced the X-Trail wrongly. The brand says that it will not repeat the same with the Patrol, and the latter will be priced correctly. This further clarifies that the Patrol will be positioned in the same ballpark as the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 in India, which also happens to be its biggest rival.
Powering the current-gen Y63 Patrol is a powerful 3.5-litre V6 twin-turbo engine. The Patrol is a full-size SUV that offers luxurious features like rear entertainment screens, captain seats on the second row with extending leg support, massage functions, and more.
The Y63 Patrol could be launched in India by the end of this year.
