What to expect from the Mercedes-Benz S-Class PHEV?
The upcoming Mercedes S-Class facelift is scheduled to launch in India later this year. The recently unveiled model has undergone minor cosmetic revisions and feature add-ons. However, with its introduction, Mercedes will also bring the S 450e, aka the plug-in hybrid variant.
This variant is based on the standard S 450 trim, but it comes with a bigger 22 kWh battery pack. Powering it is the same 3.0-litre M256 Evo inline-six engine as the S 450, which makes 435 bhp and 680 Nm with the help of a 120 kW electric motor.
With that said, it also offers a pure electric range of 100 km, which is beneficial for executive meetings and airport errand runs for the customers, thus saving fuel, while the conventional petrol motors keep the charm of an ICE S-Class.
Apart from the 22 kWh battery pack, the S 450e will have the same design and interior features as the other variants. The updated S-Class has recently undergone a cosmetic upgrade, where it now features a set of new Digital Lights, a new illuminated grille, new bumpers, new LED taillights, and new alloy wheels.
On the inside, it now features the trademark triple screen dashboard and a new steering wheel. The rear passengers now get more comfort and convenience updates as well.
The S-Class facelift is likely scheduled later this year for the Indian market. While the initial launch will primarily include the S 450 and the S 350d, we believe that the S 450e will be launched subsequently.
