The upcoming plug-in hybrid SUV has been repeatedly spotted testing in India. While the camouflaged spy shots have tried their best, it is widely assumed to be a rebadged version of the Wuling Starlight 560 PHEV.

The Wuling Starlight 560 is a popular mid-size plug-in hybrid SUV that is available in ASEAN countries. It uses a 1.5-litre engine that is paired to a 20.5 kWh battery, which offers a pure electric range of around 125 km, and a total range of around 1,100 km – something that no other SUV in this segment offers in India.

The Starlight 560 will get cosmetic tweaks like a redesigned grille, new logos, and possibly the new name “Hector Hawk”. We feel that this name suits perfectly, as Hector became the first MG car in India to change the segment with an affordable, tech-driven, and full-size combo. Now, the brand is already teasing that a similar change is coming soon in the segment, which clearly hints at the Wuling Starlight 560.

The Wuling Starlight 560 PHEV will be of similar size to the Mahindra XUV 7XO. It will offer the latest features like Level 2 ADAS, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, multi-zone climate control, AI-assisted voice commands, and more. JSW MG Motor India has already released the first teaser trailer of this PHEV, and we suspect that it could be launched by the festive season later this year.

Considering that the “Hector Hawk” or the Starlight 560 will be positioned against the Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV 7XO, it could be priced around Rs 18-25 lakh.
