Hyundai is soon going to launch a new SUV in India, which will be positioned alongside the Creta. This upcoming SUV is named Bayon, and the brand has now commenced pre-bookings for it. Interested customers can now book their units by paying Rs 11,000.
As per the released details, the new Bayon will be based on the same platform as the current-gen Creta. Moreover, it will measure 4.2 metres, which means it will be longer than certain variants of the Creta.
With this platform sharing, online reports hint that it will be offered with the Creta-sourced 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine develops 113 bhp and 143.8 Nm on the Creta, and these figures are likely to remain unchanged on the Bayon. Moreover, the Bayon will be a front-wheel-drive car, and it will be offered with a 6-speed manual and an IVT automatic gearbox, as per the reports.
For what we know till now, the Indian-spec Bayon will have a different design than the international-spec model. It will share the ‘Art of Steel’ design philosophy, and the body panels will likely feature sharp cuts, while the overall profile will be low-slung and wide. The teaser has already hinted that it will get connected LED lights, and we are sure that the Bayon will look sharp in the real-world.
On the inside, it will get a design inspired by the newly launched i20 in Brazil. The dashboard will offer a dual-screen connected display with a new three-spoke steering wheel, while the cabin will offer spacious and comfortable seating for five passengers. Hyundai’s focus with the Bayon is passenger comfort and a smart cabin experience.
With that said, Hyundai is expected to launch the Bayon in India soon. Hyundai has also scheduled a new global-spec Bayon launch for October 12, 2026.
