India’s automotive production plan for 2030 explained
As per a latest report published online, the Indian government and passenger vehicle manufacturers are pushing themselves to double the production numbers by the end of this decade.
Believed to be a part of the new automotive mission plan or AMP, the target is to achieve 200 million vehicle production by 2047. Therefore, to achieve this long-term target, Indian passenger vehicle manufacturers will prioritise the localisation and use of biofuel options, including biogas, CNG, and hydrogen, as well.
As per the official statement by a top official, the export of passenger vehicles is set to increase to 30% by 2030. The long-term goal is to increase this export number to 40% by 2047.
Meanwhile, the new AMP is still under the initial discussion phase with the automotive industry and leaders. However, a final plan with a complete chalk-out of timings and goals shall be released publicly by the end of this fiscal year, a top official commented.
