Nissan Kait: Everything you need to know about
The Kait SUV is essentially a replacement model for the Nissan Kicks. However, it is not an all-new car built from scratch, but it is based on the Kicks itself. The main difference between it and Kicks is the design and new cabin features.
As the Kait shares the same chassis, the dimensions are largely identical to the Kicks. For example, it is 4,304 mm long, 1,760 mm wide, and 1,611 mm high, all of which are similar to Kicks. Meanwhile, its 432 litres of boot space is also identical.
So, what’s new? Well, on the outside, it features an all-new, sharp design with the new horizontal LED DRLs, a new set of LED headlights that are connected via a sleek piano black highlight bearing the Nissan logo. Meanwhile, the bumper has a big scuff plate with horizontal slats painted in piano black colour.
Meanwhile, the side profile remains largely unchanged, except for the new dual-tone alloy wheels that make it look refreshing. At the rear, it features a new set of LED taillights and a new bumper, but the sloping roofline, the roof-integrated spoiler, and the Nissan logo remain unchanged.
On the inside, the cabin features a black theme with the same three-spoke steering wheel as the current Kicks. But the dashboard gets some revisions, including the redesigned air-con vents, a new 7-inch digital instrument console, a 9-inch Pioneer infotainment screen, wireless connectivity, wireless charging, dual-zone AC, electric seats, and level 2 ADAS safety features.
Powering the Kait is the same 1.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine as the Kicks. It is a 110 bhp and 146 Nm producing power mill that is offered with a CVT automatic gearbox in a FWD guise only. Nissan claims that it delivers up to 11 kpl in city driving conditions.
Nissan has begun the production of Kait in Latin America, and it aims to sell the new Kicks replacement in over 20 countries. These countries will primarily include the Latin American countries and Mexico.
