The new-generation Renault Duster SUV has secured a full 5-star rating under the Bharat NCAP crash test program.
The Scores
The new Duster scored 30.49 out of 32 for adult occupant protection. For child occupant safety, it managed 45 out of 49. Those are solid figures. Not just good on paper, but strong enough to put it right up there with the safest SUVs in its segment.
What also stands out is that this rating applies across all variants. Whether you pick the base or the top-end version, the safety package stays consistent.
Safety at the core
Renault says it engineered the new Duster from the ground up to meet strict safety targets. The SUV sits on the RGMP platform, which focuses on structural strength and crash protection. The car also gets 35 safety features as standard. These include six airbags, electronic stability control, hill hold and descent control, tyre pressure monitoring, and ISOFIX mounts. There are seatbelt reminders for all passengers and three-point seatbelts across the board. No shortcuts here.
ADAS features
On top of the standard safety kit, the Duster also packs in 17 ADAS features. These include adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, and blind spot detection. It brings the Duster closer to more premium offerings in terms of active safety tech.
Safety is clearly the headline, but Renault has not ignored the rest of the package. The new Duster continues to focus on ride comfort and stable handling. It aims to deliver confidence across different road conditions, which has always been one of its strong suits. The brand is also backing it with a 7-year warranty, which adds another layer of reassurance for buyers.
