Royal Enfield Himalayan 440: Everything we know so far
As reported online by a media agency, Royal Enfield is working on a new Himalayan model with a 443cc engine. This model will be based on the Scram 440, and it is likely going to boast the same design as the old Himalayan 411.
While the company has not revealed further details, the sources report that this new model will cater for affordability and accessibility for Himalayan lovers. Currently, the Himalayan 450 is priced above Rs 3 lakh, while the Scram 440 does not serve the purpose of an ADV.
The new Himalayan 440 will cater for this gap, and it is likely to be positioned around Rs 2.60-2.80 lakh. Moreover, it will share its chassis and the 443cc air/oil-cooled engine with the Scram 440. The only changes will be a long-travel front suspension and a relaxed riding position.
The online source also claims that it will carry forward the old Himalayan’s design with the Tripper instrument console. However, to keep the cost in check, the company will not equip it with the advanced electronics like the ride modes, traction modes, etc.
The exact launch timeline of this model is yet to be determined, but we believe that Royal Enfield will take its sweet time to test it thoroughly before launching it in the market. Hence, it could be introduced globally some time next year.
