Toyota Ebella EV Battery-as-a-Service scheme details
As EVs are gaining rapid traction in India, most manufacturers have started to introduce battery rental programs, which add more value to their products by reducing the initial buying price. Moreover, BaaS or Battery-as-a-Service offers practicality for users with limited use.
With that said, Toyota has also added a BaaS scheme to its new Ebella EV. The latter was recently launched at Rs 23.60 lakh (ex-showroom), which makes it pricier, especially when compared to the Maruti e Vitara, which is its donor car since both models are essentially the same. The BaaS option offers an initial price of Rs 15.25 lakh, while users need to pay Rs 4.99/km.
Toyota intends to add more variants to the Ebella, as it is currently offered in a single, fully-loaded E3 variant. Since it is a rebadged version of the Maruti e Vitara, it is mostly similar to it in terms of design, features, and specs. The only difference is the new front fascia with ‘hammered’ styling and new 18-inch alloys.
The interior layout is premium, and it gets leather upholstery, a dual-screen display with wireless connectivity, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone AC, ventilated seats with electric adjustment, electric tailgate, rear AC vents, and more. It also features a Level 2 ADAS safety suite along with six airbags, regen modes, and other essential safety features.
The Urban Cruiser Ebella EV is powered by a 61 kWh battery pack that offers 171 bhp and 193 Nm. The ARAI-claimed range stands at 543 km, while DC charging offers 10-80% in 45 minutes. Toyota has commenced the pre-bookings for the Ebella across India, and the deliveries are expected to begin shortly.
