- Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 cruiser hits the production line
- Gets a longer wheelbase and new design than the X440
- India launch possible in the coming weeks
Harley-Davidson is soon going to introduce its second motorcycle based on the 440 platform. Unlike the previous launch of the X440’s new variant, this one is a whole new model that caters for the original Harley cruiser lovers.
Badged “Sprint 440”, this new cruiser motorcycle has hit the production line. The fresh spy shots arrive straight from the production plant.
As visible in the spy images, the Sprint 440 gets a new styling. It has a redesigned teardrop-shaped fuel tank with new orange coloured Harley stickers, a scooped-in seat for the rider, a longer wheelbase compared to the X440, a higher-set handlebar with a wider size, a new exhaust with chrome plating, a new rake for the handlebar, and mid-set riding controls for a relaxed, cruiser-like riding posture.
Although it has some similarities to the X440. For example, the circular TFT instrument console is unaltered. The alloy wheels also look similar, and so do the LED headlight and turn indicators. However, the tail section gets a new taillight that looks identical to the Sportster 883.
Powering the Sprint 440 is the same 440cc single-cylinder air/oil-cooled engine as the X440. This unit churns out a healthy 38 Nm of torque, while 27 bhp of peak power is enough for everyday cruising and riding. We do believe that the 6-speed gearbox will receive new gear ratios and final-drive ratios for better cruising ability.
Harley is likely to position the Sprint 440 alongside the top variant of the X440. The price will also be in the same ballpark. Speaking of the competition, the Sprint 440 is most likely to cater to Royal Enfield Meteor 350 customers.
It could break cover at EICMA 2026 next week in Milan, Italy. The Sprint 440 will be manufactured at Hero’s production facility in Jaipur. It will be exported from India.
