Hero MotoCorp has updated the Glamour X 125 with ABS, addressing one of the biggest omissions on the feature-packed commuter motorcycle. The new version is priced at Rs 1.01 lakh, ex-showroom, putting it close to the Xtreme 125R in Hero’s line-up.
First in segment ABS
The addition of ABS is significant because the Glamour X previously relied on a combined braking setup without ABS. The motorcycle continues with a front disc brake and rear drum, while the latest version adds ABS for improved braking safety. Current specifications list a 124.7cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine producing 11.4 bhp and 10.5 Nm, paired with a five-speed gearbox.
The Glamour X remains one of the more feature-heavy motorcycles in the 125 cc commuter segment. It gets ride-by-wire, allowing the rider to choose between Eco, Road and Power modes. It also features cruise control, i3S start-stop technology and a colour LCD instrument cluster.
Other features
The motorcycle has a conventional commuter-friendly chassis, with telescopic front suspension and a five-step adjustable rear shock absorber. It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and offers 170 mm of ground clearance. The 10-litre fuel tank and relatively light 127 kg kerb weight should also help keep it practical for everyday use.
The ABS-equipped Glamour X is now positioned closer to the Rs 1 lakh mark, making the safety upgrade particularly relevant. Interestingly, Autocar India’s earlier review of the motorcycle had highlighted the lack of ABS as one of its notable shortcomings, especially given the motorcycle’s extensive feature list.
Final thoughts
The Glamour X already had plenty of technology for a 125 cc commuter, but ABS was the one feature that was conspicuously missing. Hero has now fixed that gap.
