- Volkswagen Virtus facelift India launch in December 2026
- Earlier speculations hinted at Diwali festive season launch
- It will get a new design, more features, and a new 8-AT gearbox
As we reported earlier, Volkswagen was eyeing a launch of the Virtus facelift by the Diwali festive season this year. However, the plans seem to have changed a bit. The latest online reports and rumours hint that the new Virtus will arrive by December 2026.
We have already come across a number of test car spottings with partial camouflage. These test mules have given a clear idea of what to expect in terms of changes.
Since it will not be a generational shift, the Virtus facelift will get an updated fascia. The front design is likely to get a more streamlined bumper like the Taigun facelift. Additionally, a new front grille with horizontal slats and LED daytime running light elements is also expected.
Further, the LED projector headlights will also receive an update of a similar type. The foglights will be repositioned, and their housing will be minimal, unlike the current model, which has massive housings.
The side profile will remain more or less the same. The only change that we are expecting are the new alloy wheels. The GT variant will also continue to be offered with black exterior trims and GT badging, along with the red brake callipers. The rear section is most likely to get a slightly redesigned bumper.
On the inside, the driver console will get a new 10.25-inch digital unit with a new UI. The central infotainment screen will get an updated software and new wireless features. To add more comfort, Volkswagen is likely to offer rear massaging seats like the Skoda Slavia facelift.
Other feature updates are likely to include wireless charging, front seats with ventilation, an electronically adjustable driver seat, etc. A deal-breaker will be the absence of the 360-degree camera and ADAS, since Volkswagen’s current platform can not support these additions.
Under the bonnet, the new Virtus will remain mostly unchanged. The only upgrade will be the new 8-speed AT gearbox for the 1.0 TSI engine, which will replace the current model’s 6-speed AT.
