Skoda Kodiaq Lounge 5-seater launched at INR 39.99 lakh

Key highlights

  • New Lounge variant undercuts Sportline by INR 3.77 lakh.
  • Five-seat layout = massive 786-litre boot.
  • Same 2.0L turbo-petrol + AWD combo as higher trims.

Skoda Auto India has pulled the covers off the Kodiaq Lounge, a new entry-level variant of its flagship SUV, priced at INR 39.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Sitting below the Sportline and L&K, the Lounge is aimed at buyers who love the Kodiaq’s premium charm but don’t really need a third row or the higher price tag that comes with it.

Same powertrain

Under the hood, nothing changes. The Lounge packs the same 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine making 204 hp and 320 Nm, mated to a 7-speed DSG and all-wheel drive. What does change is the seating layout and a more pared-down feature list.

What’s different in the Lounge

The big shift is at the back, no third row. That means boot space jumps from a tight 281 litres to a cavernous 786 litres. Perfect for airport runs, road trips, or just piling in half your living room.

Other tweaks include:

  • 18-inch Mazeno alloys
  • Grey Suedia fabric upholstery
  • Two-spoke steering wheel
  • 10.4-inch infotainment screen with a 100W, 9-speaker setup
  • No gesture tailgate, no 360-degree camera

But don’t worry, Skoda hasn’t cut corners on safety. You still get nine airbags, ESC, hill-start and hill-descent assist, plus all-LED lighting. The panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, wireless charging, and those smart dials also stay in the mix.

Colours and positioning

The Lounge can be had in Moon White, Magic Black, or Graphite Grey. It skips the funkier Race Blue, Velvet Red, and Bronx Gold options reserved for pricier trims.

At INR 39.99 lakh, it’s INR 3.77 lakh cheaper than the Sportline and INR 5.97 lakh less than the L&K. That’s serious savings if you don’t need seven seats or a fancier audio setup.

Our thoughts

Same engine, same AWD, but way more boot space. If you’re not carting seven people every weekend, why pay for seats you’ll never use?
