Ather Energy crosses 6 lakh cumulative sales

Key Highlights

  • Ather Energy has crossed 6,04,497 cumulative sales as per the Vahan portal, as of April 22, 2026.
  • The company clocked 99,159 units between January 1 and April 22, 2026, giving it an 18.50 percent market share in the electric two-wheeler segment, its highest ever.
  • The Rizta family scooter accounts for 70 to 75 percent of Ather’s monthly sales.

Ather Energy first rolled out its 450 in Bengaluru back in 2018. Today, it is a milestone the company has crossed with real momentum behind it, and the numbers tell a story worth sitting with.

As per Vahan data, Ather crossed cumulative sales of 6,04,497 units as of April 22, 2026. The headline within the headline is this: 3,00,288 of those units, exactly 50 percent of Ather’s total sales since the brand launched, were delivered in just the last 16 months. A startup that spent its first few years building slowly, carefully, and deliberately has shifted into a different gear entirely.

The sales report

March 2026 was the single best month in Ather’s history, with 36,034 units delivered. It was also the first time the company crossed the 30,000 unit mark in a single month, and it came in a month when the overall electric two-wheeler industry was hitting record highs of its own. Here us a Y-o-Y data from CY2022.

The Rizta effect

Launched in April 2024, the Rizta was a strategic shift for Ather. The company had built its reputation and its early sales on the 450 series, a performance-focused, technology-heavy scooter that attracted enthusiasts and early adopters. The Rizta targeted a different buyer entirely: the family commuter in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities who wanted practicality, comfort, and usability over outright performance.

It worked. The Rizta now accounts for 70 to 75 percent of Ather’s monthly sales. The largest two-wheeler seat in India, generous storage, and a feature set tuned for daily family use turned it into a bestseller in markets where Ather had limited presence before.

The BaaS (Battery as a Service) model has helped further. It brings the Rizta S’s entry price down from Rs 1,17,500 to Rs 76,000 by separating the battery cost, making the premium Ather brand accessible to buyers who would otherwise be priced out.

The company has also crossed 700 experience centres across India and nearly doubled its service footprint in FY2026 alone, growing from 277 to 500 service centres. Network reach matters enormously in a market like India, and Ather is clearly investing in it.
