Tesla has announced the commencement of customer deliveries for its new six-seater electric SUV, marking another important milestone in the brand’s India journey. The first batch of vehicles has been handed over through Tesla’s direct-to-customer sales model, which the company says ensures a seamless ownership experience and consistent service standards nationwide.
Built for families who need more space
The Model Y L is essentially the larger, more practical version of Tesla’s popular Model Y.
It gets a three-row cabin with seating for six occupants and significantly more luggage capacity, making it the most family-focused Tesla currently available in India.

Tesla says the SUV has been designed to offer greater versatility, comfort and practicality for larger families without compromising on performance.
Finance plans announced
To make ownership more accessible, Tesla has also introduced financing options for Indian buyers.
Customers can bring home the Model Y L with:
- Down payment starting from Rs 6.5 lakh
- Monthly payments starting from Rs 49,990
- 7-year financing tenure options
The company says these plans are aimed at reducing the initial cost burden while making premium EV ownership more attainable.
Model Y Premium RWD also joins the lineup
Alongside the Model Y L, Tesla recently introduced the new Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive variant in India.

Deliveries for the Premium RWD variant are scheduled to begin in July 2026.
Tesla expands service network in India
Tesla is also continuing to strengthen its after-sales infrastructure.
The company currently operates service centres and body shops in:
- Mumbai
- Gurugram
- Delhi
- Pune
Further expansion is planned this quarter with new facilities expected in:
- Bengaluru
- Hyderabad
- Chennai
- Ahmedabad
Tesla also highlights its OTA (Over-The-Air) software update capability, which allows many issues and feature enhancements to be delivered remotely without requiring a workshop visit.
