Harley-Davidson Super Glide Custom Riding

Back in 1971, the first FX Super Glide was introduced by Harley-Davidson in America. And people just went berserk over it. The flawless heavy metal, low-slung cruiser was every American motorcyclist’s wet dream. After 55 years, the spirit hasn’t died yet, as the brand has launched the 2026 Super Glide that looks almost similar to the original FX Super Glide.

Available only in the US and Canadian markets, Harley will sell the serialised 2,500 units of this beautiful chrome-laden old-school cruiser. It is based on the Softail’s chassis, and the whole design takes inspiration from the FX Super Glide, which was essentially the first proper Big Twin FL model made wholly by Willie G. Davidson.

Painted in a White Onyx Pearl shade, the whole motorcycle features nostalgia in various forms, including the red and blue highlights on the fuel tank, laced chrome wheels, an ape-like chrome handlebar, chrome engine finish, chrome dual exhausts, chrome indicators, and a tail tidy that shows its fat rear profile; typical American.

Meanwhile, the chrome-draped semi-digital console on the fuel tank looks cool, especially with the dual fuel filler caps on the top of the tank on both sides – all painted chrome by the way. The serialised numbers are also placed on the fuel tank, which tells you every time you sit on it that you own a piece of history.

Powering the limited-run Super Glide is the Milwaukee-Eight 117 Classic V-twin 1,923cc engine. This power mill makes 97 bhp, which might not sound a lot, but it has 163 Nm of torque, which will pull anything away. The engine tuning has been done to provide a flat torque curve for a tasteful and flavorful riding experience.

The Super Glide sits on the 49mm dual-bending valve telescopic forks at the front and under-seat preload hydraulic adjustment. With all that retro packaging, it still is a modern bike as it offers features like cornering ABS, three ride modes (Rain, Road, and Sport), drag torque slip control, cornering traction control, and LED lights.

Sadly, this won’t make it to the Indian market, and we will surely miss it.
